“Nana, Sara and I were talking last night about how we can help Firefly teach children never to let anyone bully them.”
“I think that’s really important, Nana. Did you know that some children don’t even tell their parents when they are being bullied?”
“Why wouldn’t they tell their parents, Mistress Sara?”
“Kids sometimes feel ashamed, Firefly, and think their parents won’t be able to do anything. They may even think things will get worse if they tell.”
“Your right, Sara, we have all been taught it’s not nice to “tattle” on someone, and kids figure they should handle it on their own. We thought that maybe you could help us do some teamwork, Nana, and figure out a way to make children and their parents understand important things about bullying.”
“I think you have a good idea, Kurt. Helping children and their parents understand what can be done about bullying is important. Let’s start next time by telling everyone what we mean when we say bullying. We can even ask the children and their parents to join in our discussion by leaving comments below.”
“Can Whistle and I join in too? We want to make sure kids know they should never be afraid to speak to their parents.”
“Of course you can.”
“Well, Nana, I think it would be exciting if that happens. Do you think they’d really want to talk with us, and we can tell them about Firefly’s mission, the secret penny and how we can all help; do you think they will, do you?”
“All will be revealed in time, Sara. We will just have to wait and see. Now I’ve got to get you home, so let’s clean up the breakfast dishes.”
